Chris and Disco Stu !!!!

Disco Stu,

great name by the way!! Do you still wear the white suit, open neck shirt with stick on hairy chest??? ( I do !!!)
Anyway enough of that shite.
Lawrence Dallaglio. I have not seen what he said, but if he has hinted that the players might have to strike, my honest reaction is how sad that the players are having to sort it out. It is rather like children having to organise their parents through a divorce, not quite what anyone would want, and a sad insight into how childish the RFU and the Clubs have become. It must be unbelievably frustrating for the players, who want to create not only great clubs, great success and a great following, but are having to do this against a back drop of continual bickering by the very men who are meant to be guiding the development and growth of the game. It must be very sad for fans to watch, read, listen to this bollocks, and I am sure many can not believe that grown men could behave so pathetically. Sadly I had almost nine years of dealing with the RFU as captain, so I am well versed in the tedium and mind numbing attitude of some of them, and it does leave you stunned!!!
Maybe a players strike would bring the whole thing to a head? Or maybe just a few more gins would be swilled and cigars puffed just a little harder!!

Chris,

Hipkiss. I have not seen him play, but I hear that some people rate him very highly.
I would certainly think he is worth taking on tour, and then we can see how he deals with the step up. That is always the big question. There are so many players who look good at club level, even at Heineken Cup level, but the International arena is just very special and so many just can not deal with the speed, intensity, pressure, emotion etc. And you just never know until the face it.
That said, I agree with you, if he is fronting up, taking on players and showing that he will stick his head above the parapit, then that is exactly what we need. Guys who are willing to put themselves on the line and play, make decisions, try to create, and bloody hit people in defence. That is what we need. Some guys with an edge, some steel, some mongrel. That's what I like, and we need to find some.
So hopefully Ashton will give him a go this summer, and I tell you it will be one hell of a teat against the Boks in Bloomfontein. Such a nice place!!!!

Your sentiments re a players strike are pretty much the same as mine. It may not be a front row forward that knocks a few heads together, but the actions of a No 8 war horse that has been a great servant to both club and country over the years.

Nobody wants to see players on strike. I'm still hoping that Rob Andrew can make all parties agree to a workable deal. I've not lost the faith just yet.

A good start would be a break in the club season for the period of the 6 Nations so that elite players can be released without conflict. This could benefit the clubs as it would also give injured club players more opportunity to recover before the season restarts.

As for my moniker, it's both a Simpsons reference and also to me spending a large number of years in the 2nd row where co-ordination was of lesser importance to size.

Agree it might be one hell of a test in SA but if the Tigers make it to the HC final then none of the Tigers players will be there!
Players from Bath, Saracens, Northampton and Wasps could also be unavailable.

Now who organised this?

Saracens might be unable to contribute players if we beat Bath to go to the Euro Challenge Cup final! Also there are the play offs to consider!

I would bring Hipkiss along for the hell of it, good quality player given a trip of a lifetime with the potential to win a place on the World Cup team if he does well.

Should Catt be captain again or should he be given a rest and hand the captains armband to someone like Pat Sanders once more?

Also, is there any chance that we can have a heavyweight front three this time instead of something that could get rolled over easily by the toddlers from Wales? God the Welsh are in for a rude awakening when they hit the World Cup.

Sorry to double post but in the Saracens match day program they had a photo of the Fez brigade 'ambushing' Will Carling (well ambushing in that they gathered round with him for a photo, haha) and got a photo of him wearing a Fez hat! Made me smile even more at the end of full time! :D

Any predictions for heinken cup winners guys? Im going to stick my neck out and say I think Scarlets have what it takes to go all the way. They have impressed me a lot this season and really have some quality inform players.

I think Scarlets will have been watching the DVD of the Ospreys vs Leicester match all week. Something tells me that the Scarlets will have sussed out whats giving Leicester form so far and as such, it'll be a much more closer game.

Whoever wins, its going to be awesome rugby! I think Leicester might edge it.

It was hard to believe Leicester could continue on three fronts. Injuries must take a toll at sometime, the question is when.
If Castro' is unavailable then I'm not sure who Leicester will have on the bench. The Tigers pack certainly gave the Ospreys a working over, not sure how the Scarlets compare, but unless they match the Tigers up front they could be in for a tough time.
