Mike Catt - a little bet !!!

I bet Mike Catt plays against France!! Anyone care to disagree??!!

If so, where?

Will he play in place of Tindall or Farrell in order to reassure Wilkinson after he gets over his dead leg/tight hamstring?

Personally? I think Catt will make the bench, that way Dad can continue in his now almost decade old battle cry of "bring Catty on! He'll make something bloody happen!" in the middle of an England game.

My tips? I think he was watching to see how Flood, Gehraty and Catt would do. Floods lacklustre performance yesterday does his position no good, especially when London Irish have a supremely promising fly half of their own.

My prediction?

(if Wilko stays injured) Gehraty, Catt and Tindall. Flair, pace and power. Exactly what you need.

Wouldnt bet against that. Its either catt or dame edna, and although dame edna would pose quite a threat on the scaryness factor, I think the french would be too used to that sort of scary!!! Catts the man, he has pride in the shirt. You can rely on him to give his all.

Much as I like Catt I don't see him being the right man for us now. By all means use him as a fly half should Wilkinson’s injury prove to be more serious than first reported but as a replacement inside center I don’t think that is the answer. Farrell is getting better and better (although he has a long way to go) and if he is to stand a chance of being close to real international class by the world cup you have to continue with him. Either that or you totally accept that we will not get into the knockout stage of the cup and start blooding a team for 2012. If so then drop both Farrell and Tindall.

Interesting!
I did not know Dame Edna was in the mix, but quite a thought really!
I am not saying I agree with it, just my hunch that I think they will drop Farrell and pick Catt.
So Peter, your Dad will either be able to shout, 'I told you he was good!!', or ' get that idiot off, he never does anything!!'
I think Wilkinson will make it, whether he is fit or not remains to be seen. And if they go with Catt, I think they will then stick with Tindall. (but then again what the hell do I know!)
What a shame Marconnet broke his leg skiing! Always something a prop should do in the middle of the Six Nations! Can you imagine gliding peacefully down a slope and turning to see, and no doubt hear, Leonard coming towards you!!! It would be like being hit by a ****ing avalanche!!

Lenord on skis - just too much. Still laughing about it.
Would he have a St. Bernard following behind with refreshments?

I think it would have to be a herd of St Bernards!! Or whatever you would call it!!
As one poxy St Bernard with his small amount of alcohol would not make much of an impact on our Legend Mr Leonard!!!!

All this stuff about Farrell and not having the pace to cut it at international level. Well you must have access why not ask him yourself? What does he think about it? What’s he doing to get to grips with the game? Will he be the man for the us come RWC? He seems like a decent enough bloke and would give a straight answer to a question. In fact why not get one of the guys in each week as part of the podcast to account for their actions? I would love to get a straight answer or an explanation from the horses mouth rather than read some ghost writers sanitized account of the previous weeks events. Just a thought

I like the idea, it's just that the current guys can not really talk, or tell it as it is. so you usually get very bland answers etc, or politically correct answers, neither of which we really want, but you can not blame them.
All that said, it might still be an interesting angle. I will see what we can sort out.
I am hoping Andy farrell will come into out facility at Twickenham after the French match, and if he does I will try and get a chat with him on video and put it up on here on Monday.
Who knows we could have an exclusive of him knocking me out!!! That would be very popular!!!

Sounds good! And when you taunt him a second time, you can run away and test his pace. If you get away you'll be proven correct, and if not you can use Jeremy Guscott as a shield to take the heaver blows!

The sight of Jason Leonard skiing and ploughing into you had me in stiches.

Will, looks like you were in on the selection meeting! Mike Catt at 12 it is. What do you make of the team? Looks to me like he's going for more dynamism in the pack with some good ball carriers from 4-8. I expect it will be a limited game plan though with forwards making the yards and Mike Catt hoofing it 60m to the corner. Can't see the outside backs being used for anything other than last ditch tackling!

I only picked one wrong selection and had them in the wrong order but I like it.

Also the front five have changed beyone recognition. Payne, Palmer, Rees and Easter! What a treat! And at home against such opposition that is guaranteed to get the bit between their teeth!

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this will pan out. At last we have a balanced-ish Centre three and a young, powerful, pacy and intelligent pack!
